In March 2004, I bought my 2000 9-5 Aero, black, 5 speed, 84,000 miles from a dealer here in the Twin Cities for $13,000. It had been totally dealer serviced, clean records, etc. It had been sitting on the lot for 2-3 months when I came along, when I offered $13k. I think they originally listed it for $17,900.
The extended eight-year sludge warranty applies to these cars, yes. That's why maintenance records are critical, because you have to prove that all the oil changes were done in order to get coverage.
Having said that, my 9-5 Aero has been very reliable, not real problems to speak of. Best Saab I ever owned. I came from a 9000 turbo, and while I miss the massive interior space of the 9000 hatch, the 9-5 is a better car in every other aspect.
Offer them $10k for it, go find the relevant price data from edmunds and kbb (or even use this post as a data point for negotiation). See how they respond.
