I agonized on this early on before there was a lot of data on upgrading. If you search on my "sway bar" or "bilstein", you should see LOTS of data. If you look for my posts way back, I'm pretty sure I even posted the various codes for the different aero configurations...
FWIW, I went with OEM aero springs and '02/'03 aero sway bars and bilstein shocks. It did lower the car slightly, but the results were amazing, and I'm still VERY happy with it 40k miles later (have ~140k on it now)
I was actually anal enough to drive as many different versions as I could find with various springs (oem aero and other lowering), aero & non aero 17" wheels, etc. The bilsteins do give a slightly firmer ride IMO than oem aero, but it could just be the 02 sway bars. In any case, DEFINATELY go for the hassle of the 02/03 bars, I haven't driven an early aero that is flatter than my car in oem trim!
the only thing I would do differently is not wait so long to do the upgrade... and also not try 195/60 - 15's for winter tires!
