Failed yrs back on my 1999 9-5 at around 15k miles, very bad limp home mode.

Now while in route from denver to NYC with 2004 9-5 check engine light comes on, much better limp mode, but no cruise and very rough idle, difficult to start. So I find dealer in Tinley Park, IL call and ask if they will look at car and advise me if I can continue trip, they agreed to look at immediately. Well I pull off I 80, get to the dealer, line car up in that ridiculous queue they do at GM shops, check it in and service guy say "we can look at in around 2 hrs, give us your keys" I refuse to move car, call for service mgr. Explain to him I'm on a trip - they pull codes and reset throttle body, claiming code chart called for no additional action.
In Buffalo NY check engine light comes on again. I call local dealers - one says no TB in stock, other says they can look at car in a couple of days, but I must leave it, but had TB in stock. I call other dealer back and ask them to get TB from other dealer, they won't claiming excessive markup from other dealer. I call Saab USA asking for help, they call dealer with no TB in stock who now claims they have one but it was being saved for "another customer" . I bring car in (60 miles from where I was staying) they remove TB then tell me that their TB will not fit, I have the "newer style" - I ask them to put the old one back on and they refused unless I paid for labor. I called Saab USA and bitched about this, they had a TB overnighted, it arrived and car was repaired the next day.

I have limited experience with dealers as except for warranty work I've always done my own service, but it seems to me that the dealer responses I encountered were less than satisfactory. While traveling I don't expect to have to leave the car for days until the dealer finds time to look at it.

What have others experienced or what are reasonable expectations around repairs needed when traveling. The car is under warranty.

Traveling with 4 and a fully loaded trunk yielded SID reported 33 mpg, much of it at 75 mph and over.

The one dealer in Buffalo lamented how difficult it was to sell Saabs, and that Saab forced several 9-7 on them, almost impossible to move them without huge discounts.
