"...tires usually become a fiesty topic on these boards" as Gary has noted is a bit of an understatement. Some of the tire threads are better than soap operas. It is also an extremely fieisty topic for me at work on a daily basis. I'm at CalEPA in the Special Waste Division, Waste Tire Diversion Unit....do any of you care where the old ones go?? Over 30 million scrap tires are generated here annually....how about in your states?
Oh, the perils of living in the Central Valley of CA......what's a snow tire...??
You might go back a ways on the boards and look for a post from "bmwjoe". It was either here or on the Edmunds Town Hall and I think it might have been in Sept or Oct (I'm pretty sure it was here, but I think I have seen his posts on Edmunds also). He has a beautiful, red, 9-5 wagon for which he purchased a set of snow tires mounted on the 16 in. Saab alloy "snowflake" rims. He lives in PA as I recall and seemed very pleased with their performance in the snow. Maybe you could do a search to find his post about his rim/tire setup and see what specific tire he had mounted. Seems to me he paid in the $800 range, shipped from some Saab dealer? Sorry about the flaky memory on this lead, I'm over 60 and I'm tired...what did you expect?
Huge rainstorms here today and maybe a foot or two of snow up the hill in the Sierra...I didn't say "Welcome to sunny California"! Rain tires we can use....
Regards....Jesse (Citrus Hts, CA)
