Happens alot. Folks don't remember all of the details (cash, trades and equity) that made their current payment so attractive.

In order to get a $329 payment on an '02 Saab 9-5 Linear a person had to put roughly 10% down, $3,500 ish. Back then the advertised lease for a 9-5 was for a stick shift non-metallic non-premium package 185hp Linear. And the ad 9-5 lease only got down to $329 right there at the end, for the rest of the year it was $369 or something.

So now if you do the $3,500 ish drive offs or "$2,999 due at signing" for a 260hp premium package 9-5 the lease is up to $399 which also includes automatic and metallic paint.

And if your current lease is $329 and now they want another $3,500 and $420 or $399 or whatever, it feels like lots more when it's only just a little more for a lot more car.
