Time and mileage at the major service..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 24 month tune up for Saab 9-5 Sport Wagon 2004 model, Sharon, Thu, 27 Jul 2006 09:27:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The normal service interval for your car is two years or 15k miles. Free scheduled maintenance is gonna' pay for a 15k and a 30k major service. If for some reason you don't make 30k before the 36 months take your Saab in and have the major service performed anyway. Show up at your Saab dealer with 28k, but 37 months and your free schedule maintenance will have expired, so get in before 36 months if you're not up to 30k miles.
The time for service message in a 9-5 is most often out of phase with the actual service requirements.
15k is a long time between services. You won't make the car wear any longer by changing the full synthetic oil sooner, but 15k between inspections invites neglect and causes over zealous recommendations for replacement wear items. 2006 Saabs have gone to a 1 year amd 10,000 miles service interval. Much easier to keep on top of things once a year or at the even 10k milage mark.
