These "best warraties in the industry" as Kia and Hyundai like to call them are actually powertrain-only. But the ads give you the impression they are bumper to bumper.
I was talking with the techs at the local general repair place about those long warranties and they've had customers come in with stories about how they warranties have all kinds of outs and clauses in favor of the dealer/mfgr. According to them (I have no details), one customer had had a service (basically an oil change) done other than at the dealer and when he had trouble the warranty wasn't honored. Apparently something other than oil was supposed to be done at that service and it wasn't so the warranty was voided. Don't know all the facts but it makes you wonder.
I think Hyundais and Kias aren't bad, but they are still disposable cars. The real proof is how well they are holding up 10 years out or at 150K.
