Saab altered the foglight shell or housing with the 2001 models to remove the opening where the cornering lamp socket was inserted in the bottom of the housing.
I bought an "inexpensive" aftermarket 2001 foglight for my 2000 that was advertised as fitting my car. After 45 minutes of careful scribing and grinding the FRP lamp housing with my Dremel tool, I had a keyed opeing that accepted the cornering lamp socket. The mold lines for the opening are visible in the body, but the hole is not there.
The real question regarding what you want to do is, where do you connect the lamp sockets after you have modified your foglamps and added the bulbs? Comparing the front lighting wiring harnesses on 2000 and 2001 models, you will need a new harness. You currently have a P/N 51 00 425 harness, you will need a P/N 51 00 433 harness. Although the EPC calls out for only one of these harnesses on a car, I believe you actually require one per front corner, or two, for you car. Same for lamp and lamp socket.
