Change it when you get the first whiff of something that stinks like old gym socks when starting the car, don't wait until the entire cabin is permeated with the stench.
You will know when the activated carbon is exhausted, phew! The only advantage of the OEM filter is the directional arrows molded into the plastic filter frame, I have used both OEM and Scan-Tech brands.
Does the Purolator brand contain activated carbon for odors, or is it for dirt/dust removal only?
