Same symptoms, bought the CPS from the parts, got the mechanic to drop it in, no more problems.
The CPS does not give any codes for diagnostics.
By the way, I have both a 99MY SW Wagon and an 05MY SW Arc Wagon, and for the money the 99 takes it easily. The few problems I have had have been covered by warranty, but man, it drives really well for an 8 year-old, and nobody thinks it's a 99, they all think it's brand new.
