That's the whole valve/hose assembly Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Wed, 16 Aug 2006 14:20:32 In Reply to: Water valve/hose-# 5048830, Stufis, Wed, 16 Aug 2006 13:59:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If only the valve is replaced, the part number is 90566947.
But the 5048830 $326.23 is the whole update kit that I think they use on cars that doesn't have the bypass system from factory.
So maybe they felt it was better to replace the whole shebang in one sweep instead of just bits and pieces?
This is yet another part installed on modern cars that you question the validity of.
Most people would not notice a difference if it was not installed and it would be one part less that can break.
Some of you might recall the bypass valve that Saab installed on the last years of the C900 and how it was just a source of leak and failure and really didn't do anything more or better than before.
Now we don't replace that valve anymore but update (back date) those cars back to the older setup with just two heater hoses.
The only thing this bypass valve do is to shut off the hot coolant running through the heater core when max A/C cold demand is asked for.
The thought is that limiting the hot coolant into the cars heater core will make the A/C system cool just a little bit better.
