Every two years or 30K miles is what I recommend for the brake fluid.
I do it automatically when performing the 30K major service.
I have seen very few problems with brake master cylinders on newer Saabs but it can certainly be that too.
It could also very well be the new brake all depending on how they were installed.
If the spring that goes across the caliper is installed the wrong way, you will get mushy brakes.
If someone is using silicone on the back of pads and let it dry too much before installing the pad, the silicon works as a rubber cushion and that will make the pedal mushy.
