I have heard to avoid the 1999 V6, actually. There were a lot of bugs in that engine in the first year, but you seem to be happy with yours. Everything else I think is okay. If you are looking for a 2002 V6 make sure the DI cassettes are the newer models because I don't think the 2002 V6's are covered in the recall. My 2001 V6 is great, it has over 160k miles on it now. I haven't driven any of the 2.3's -aero or lpt, so I don't have much to compare. I don't think I would step down to a 2.3 lpt though, but the Aero maybe. The V6's are great because you don't have to worry about sludge, just make sure you keep up with the timing belt and tensioner. Good luck.
