I used the standard NGKs on my '01 Aero. They are quite a bit less expensive, the DI likes them just fine. I find no change in performance or gas mileage.

experts: please correct me if I am wrong but here is my understanding:

The standard NGKs will require re-gapping on occasion and replacement more frequently. but not 10 times more frequently. or even 5 times more frequently.

so from a cost perspective the standard NGKs make sense if you dont mind getting dirty more frequently.

the platinum/irridium/whatever are quite expensive but they do seem to last amazingly long. if plug changes were the least bit inconvienient I might consider them. but really, its so easy on these cars (at least the i4) I dont see the point.
