The best action is to make sure the red oil pressure warning light is always working before you start the car.
That will instantly tell you if you are loosing oil pressure, like if the oil level would be too low for the pump to pick it up.
Also it is a good idea to open the hood now and then and pull up the oil dip stick to check the level.
In a normal scenario it is good to do that every 2-3K miles.
Some engines burn more oil than others so that's why it is a good idea to check the level now and then so that you learn the oil burning rate of your engine.
