My 9-5 SC with sports package, ventilated seats, xenons etc. has now replaced my 2003 Aero. Once I got past the unusual proboscus I found the rest of the car incredible. The ride is better, the bowtie radio is much better, and the issue of the ACC switches being common to all including the Malibu is quite immaterial,I prefer the dials to the buttons, the seats are the same as the 2003 Aero, my initial concern was unfounded. I absolutely love it.
I just dont understand why the car should be panned by reviewers for ride and not having a V6 at least. . I test drove and loaned many others, including STS4 ,SRX, Lexus GS(overrated) ,Volvo S80,I did not like the bling guages and orangelights in the Infiniti M 35 . the Acura RL was a gem with the very best seat of all. Yet I chose the 9-5 again for the sportseat mostly, the carsize ,safety ,roadholding, smooth highway ride, fun factor and cost efficiency.
I have had 2 hway breakdowns in 370,000km of 4 9-5s ,with a flat tire the one time and the dead throttle body at 95K in the 2003. That reliability is enough to win me over. The inside of the 2003 Aero at 153km was as tight as the day i got it ,not a single rattle.
2001 Linear wagn 145000km (retired)
2003 Aero wagn 153000Km (retired)
2005 Aero wagn(wife) 73000Km
2006 SC 500km black, parchment interior.
