roadside assistance reimbursement denied ...

You may recall the brief saga of picking up my 2002 CPO Arc wagon a month ago. If not, in a nut shell I picked the car up from the purchasing dealer and drove it 70 miles home with (unbeknownst to me) a gas leak under the rear passenger side door. Later that evening, I smelled and saw the leak which prompted a call to Saab roadside assistance. They had me call the fire dept to clear the spill and sent a tow truck. The brought the car to my local dealer.
This occurred late on a Friday evening. My local dealer does not have weekend hours which means I was stuck without the car until at least Monday when they could look at it. Unfortunately, I had to travel out of town leaving that Sat and returning a week later. Without this new car, I was basically sunk. So, I rented a car for the week.
Upon return from my trip I submitted a claim to Saab for reimbursement of the cost of the rental for the week ($429). They promptly denied the claim on the grounds that I was less than 100 miles from home when the breakdown occurred. The purchasing dealer has been nice enough to get involved and they are talking to the local rep. I'm hopeful that Saab will do the right thing.
I'll keep you guys posted.
