This is my third Saab, following `84 900 4-door and `87 900 Turbo hatchback. It is a 2000 Aero sedan stick shift that I bought from a private party with 17,000 miles on it. It's new-ish: in service date is Feb 2003.

General summary: best car I've ever had, no real problems over 15000 miles, only complaints are minor.

Driving performance: uniformly superb. Fast, and absolutely secure handling.

Ergonomics: The stuff that really counts -- driver comfort, driving controls -- is great. Some less important things could stand improvement. Vented seats are way cool.

Any trouble? I'm almost tempted to say "no" because the only failure was a recall item (DIC) that was a known risk. Had I wanted to I could have carried a spare and fixed it in five minutes. At least it had the decency to die in my own driveway.

Quality of dealer service: great! I've been to both Portland, Oregon area Saab dealers. One even went so far as to schedule my 30,000 mile service a couple thousand miles early because I was approaching the 3-year cutoff for pre-paid service. I was unaware of this program. So thank you, Garry Small Saab!

Just thought that someone who is still EXTREMELY HAPPY with his 9-5 ought to post!
