If an automotive system has a filter/dryer in its system it is located on the output of the condensor where the "resivour" you found is apparently located. Most systems use a large accumulator on the discharge of the evaporator, but a cut-away view of a typical accumulator shows it contains dessicant material to absorb water. Many systems also contain a muffler, which looks amazingly like your resivour, which is situated between the compressor and condensor.
