I write for a good part of my living, and do some custom publishing.
What I find is needed is a replacement for Haynes, at least for Saabs later than the C900. I usually look at TSN or Quasi's site first when preparing to do a job on the cars, then I look at Haynes.
Two things would be great:
Procedures with photos and clear instructions.
These could even have multiple approaches/procedures to a given job, as there's rarely only one way to do things and we don't all have the same tools (or skills). I know pieces of this are available at other sites (Quasi, Fix My Saab!), but if it could all be compiled in a collaborative way on or thru TSN it would be great.
Troubleshooting guides and test procedures.
On the 9000 BB, for example, Ari has often listed a 'No Start Guide for the 9000." Very comprehensive and easy to follow. Stuff like this abounds on TSN, but often requires a search of stuff that includes other things.
All that said, though, it is a huge amount of work. HUGE! We're talking about creating shop manuals, which are a bear to develop and produce under controlled circumstances, let alone when multiple remote volunteer players of varying skill are involved. There may be ways to do this collaboratively, but it will require a lot of volunteer work--and would take a while.
Worth discussing, though.
