Bought a 2001 9-5 lpt two years ago from a GM dealer in town, with 40,000 miles. Had it serviced at Bergstrom Saab in Appleton Wisconsin, and started using Mobile 1. Took it in today for the 60,000 service. I had no more than sat down when the service guy comes and tells me they are ordering a new engine compliments of Saab. He said while driving it into the bay, the mech. heard a rattling noise that told him I had a sludge problem. My check engine light has never gone on and I detected no problem. I know about sludge from this board, but thought the problem would begin with the check light, followed by a code saying I had an oil problem. After using a coat hanger, the guy would say "You got a sludge problem mister" I have never heard of it being diagnosed with a rattle. I already have a new IDM and turbo to along with my new engine. Hope my luck holds.
