In 2003, they added the sentronic feature to the automatic transmission cars, which allows you to shift the tranny manually via paddles on the steering wheel. Also, the exterior side view mirrors were redesigned. In 2003, vented seats were introduced as an option with the sport seats. Also, the touring package was less common is 2002, which includes xenons, rain sensing wipers, and backup sensors. Lastly, I could be wrong here, but I think that there was less use of leatherette in the 2002 than in 2003. I think the seatback pockets were leather in 2002, whereas my 2003 seatback pockets are vinyl. There is very little difference between the two years, but I like to argue that 2003 was the best year of the 9-5.
