I just bought a set of Philips D1S bulbs off of ebay for $100 shipped as mine had 50k on them and I had read on the BB that they dim with age. The new ones are much brighter than the old ones, though I think the Philips have more of a greenish tint to them than the OEM Osrams did. As for the high beams, I have pretty mcuh concluded that they suck. We had a Touareg with bi-xenons too, and those high beams werent great either. I think that Halogen bulbs do a better job for high beams. If your warning light for the headlights is on then you obviously have some kind of malfunction. Maybe one of the shutters failed or the level sensors went out or came loose.
