2006 wagon - overall about 24 mpg with mostly mixed town and country driving and few highways; 30+ at 45-70 mph with cruise control on flat highways, 26-28 at 80+; 24-26 overall on hilly roads; 20-22mpg around town.
All this assumes that I drive reasonably. It is surprising what using sport mode and charging up a few hills just for the fun of it will do to reduce mpg!
These figures are about the same as my wife's 2001 Volvo XC70 automatic gets, and 3-5 mpg less than I experienced with my previous car, a 2000 Passat 1.8T wagon with auto.
