When it comes to dealing with an extended warranty, the shop you are using needs to be on your side and willing to read and understand each companies warranty wording.
Import and domestic cars use different words for the same parts and sometimes the only thing it takes is for the shop to use the same language as the warranty company.
Warranty companies are not in the business to hand out money left and right so if the shop calls the part with a name that is not in their warranty pamphlet, they deny the claim.
As for this sensor. It is called CPS, CKP, crank sensor, crank shaft sensor and then some.
It is also fairly inexpensive so the shop you are using might not bend over backwards to fight a warranty company in their own game when he could install that part for you in a fraction of the time it takes to deal with the warranty company.
Usually it is also a customer deductable that might be close to the full amount of repair.
