either tires or wheel bearing Posted by darrell [Email] (#2525) [Profile/Gallery] (more from darrell) on Mon, 6 Nov 2006 11:11:28 In Reply to: Steering Wheel Wobble Low Speed, Heath, Mon, 6 Nov 2006 08:28:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My guess is if it came on qick it is the wheelbearing. Just put one in mine a few weeks ago. It is a bear of a job on the pre 01 since you only can buy the bearing. the 01 up I think you can get the whole hub for 120ish. The other thing that you should be able to notice is if you are going down the road and turn left and right like going around a bend in the road you should notice the noise get worse and better as more or less weight is on the wheel/wheel bearing.
If it is the tires you should be about to look at the tread and notice uneven wear, not side to side, but as you go around the tire and side to side. otherwise not just a toe in and out problem. So say bad shocks can cause this but 9-5's seem to have this problem more and wagons like might even more. I thought that the noise was just uneven wear but then it got really load and was the bearing. Fixed that and much quiter but still a good bit of noise from the tires(getting yokohamas soooon. Since these are bald(front) and warped(bald and warped rear).
