Brake problems…diagnosis please.... Posted by Savary [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
How do I fix this? Here is what’s going on…
Over the weekend I replaced the right front wheel hub/bearing and did the front pads and rotors.
They are brand new Zimmerman rotors and the new factory pads.
I have a bad vibration and noise on the right front.
The pads are rubbing the rotor, but just at a certain location on the rotor.
So as I drive you can hear it hitting, thump thump thump, but it’s more of a grinding sound.
After a drive I checked the rotor temp with my hand.
The left one was warm, but the passenger side was hot, couldn’t even keep my hand on it.
I removed and inspected the pads, you can see a wear spot on one of them where its hitting the rotor as you drive. When they rub its not full contact.
So it seems like the hub or rotor are not true.
Or like something is keeping them from mounting flush.
Although everything went together fine.
Could the caliper or caliper mounting bracket be bent or damaged?
What should I try? Thanks!!
