Don't put yourself at a disadvantage. After you receive the reults in writing from their adjuster, say thanks and that you'll get back with them. Then find yourself an adjuster.
For a fee, they'll perform another inspection of your car and document their findings. The difference is that they don't care who pays -- how much -- and for what.
Once you've negotaited and repaired the car -- get the guy to look again. None of us are experts on body and paint work. Well, neither are half the guys in that line of work.
Claim any and all costs with the other insurance company. They'll give you a song and dance but they will pay these valid portions of your claim. Insist that you are not an expert and that their adjuster is just that -- thiers.
This last tip should bring a smile to your face.
Within a day or two of getting your car back, go get the fanciest detail job you can find. Just make sure the invoice emphesizes that it was an interior detail.
Then simply add the detail to your claim. You'll want to indicate that the detailing was required to detox (remove the toxic and hazardous waste from the repair work). It's an undeniable fact that paint and sandpaper leave a microscopic biohazardous mess in every nook and cranny of a car's interior.
Don't believe it? Would you sand drywall without covering the sofa?
I've been round and round with many big Insurance companies as a 3rd party claimant. Between them and the majority of auto body shops out there, an uninformed consumer has no chance.
Last words...as a third party claimant you are to be made whole again. Don't settle for anything less.
You were the victim of negligent actions by thier client. It's pure tort law....and tort law mandates that you (as the victim) be made whole and returned to the same position you occupied prior to the negligent act(s).
Now the at-fault driver, they're bound to that insurance company by contract law. And that's another story for another time. Good luck!
