The water pump is done without having to move or remove the engine.
The timing cover though, we technicians are kind of split about the procedure.
Saab has come out with a procedure in that you don't need to drop the engine but many mechanics trying that method says it isn't really that much more work to drop the engine instead and do it the right way.
The in car way, you still have to disconnect a lot of stuff and move the engine sideways so I don't know how much you really save on it.
By keeping the engine in bay, it is a lot more cramped and more difficult to see and clean all surfaces which is really important when dealing with the anearobic sealant.
