is still charged then the brake pedal would be soft initially. If overnight or not driven for a long time, the brake booster has leaked down and your brake pedal would become hard.
If you pump the brake pedal after you turn the engine and ignition off, the pedal would become harder with successive pump of the pedal. You are in effect leaking down the brake booster by pumping the brakes.
