Hey, here is the report back on the change of transmission fluid in my 99 9-5. The old fluid was pretty bad and a good bit of metal was on the drain plug, I was hoping for better shifting but have not noticed much of a change. This job is harder then it looked since saab likes to make easy work hard. The drain and check level bolts are both behind the frame and have 1" clearance for your wrench. I took a regular alian key and choped some off. This works but the bolt is very tight and it is hard to get a pry bar on the check level bolt. The haynes manual says you can access from top or bottom but I think the only way to go is from the side with the interwheel well plastic off. You have to have the car level so geting in from the under side would only be easy if you put the hole car on blocks or had a shop lift. Also for the fill bolt I found it easyier to remove the battery for access to remove the bolt and fill.

Has anyone had the syncro update installed? Does it work and how much does it cost? I am thinking it would be pretty expensive. Another for the list of recalls that should have been done but saab fail to do. Still works ok just harder to go into a corner fast and drop it from 3rd to second.
