Throttle body gasket/rubber ????

I just took my throttle body off because the car keeps stalling when i put it in gear reverse or drive, once its got cold.....same thing happened about 10,000 miles ago and took it to saab here in col/spgs co
and they replace the throttle position sensor (what i was told) ran good for a while than started acting up again, anyway that is part of my throttle body correct? 99 9-5 lpt the thing that has me shocked, is there was no rubber gasket under it when i pulled the throttle body off it wasn't in the intake manifold or on the outside i checked all over the area is extremely clean around where it should be but no gasket....could this be why my fuel economy fell off and the problem came back so quickly? I'm not sure where the TPS is on here but i cleaned the whole thing out with throttle body cleaner.......going to get the new gasket in morning......would that have caused me anything i have expierenced? would it have damaged my motor not having it? seems it would just pull air from to many places.....
