as expected, Anders is correct, but to make this answer as complete as possible:
1. The all-in-one key/remote from eBay has the shank (per Swedecar's response) and the plastic housing as one piece. This you can throw this one away, but first...
2. Remove the battery cover. Not as easy at it sounds. Search for more info, or just have the dealer do it for you. Save for reuse (otherwise, pay another $7-8+ for new one).
3. Remove the "smarts" from the key.
4. I would just buy a new battery at this time, instead of reusing eBay battery. They don't cost much, (try Batteries Plus), and are SUCH a PAIN to replace (search for battery cover removal).
5. Go to dealer with VIN and ID, get new shank ordered.
6. When you have all the parts, assemble, have dealer use Tech II to set new key.
7. You can only have two active keys for your 9-5, so one banana is now unuseable.
