I'm using 16 inch NG900 viking shield wheels on my 2003 9-5aero. Looking
through the front wheel the wheels clear the brakes (but its scary close).
No rubbing problems..I see no visible offset difference from the 17 inch
wheels that were on it.
I think you should be fine with your 16 inch steel wheels from 2000 to 2003.
