As expected, it was the throttle body that died on me on the highway on Christmas Day. Somehow I managed to drive it home in limp-home mode, so I wasn't completely stranded. Had Saab-Roadside-Assistance tow the car to Thornhill-Saab here in Toronto. They agreed to honour the US CPO warranty and replaced the throttle assembly. Can't say enough about Service Manager Mike Carfoot there. He went out of his way and duked it out with Saab-USA over the phone for me. I got the impression that parts are more expensive in Canada, which might have been the reason why Saab-USA wasn't thrilled.
All in all it's been quite a month. I hit a deer before Thanksgiving in Lynnfield, MA, just north of Boston. The total repair bill came to $8500 (covered by insurance minus Comprehensive deductible), plus a month's car rental. Body work was done at Village Collisions in Brookline, which is owned by Charles River Saab. They forced the appraiser/adjuster to authorize OEM parts only. Thanks to the SaabNet member/poster who referred Village Collision to me.
Hopefully, the drive back to Boston will be less eventfull.
