and I'm familiar with the the mechanism having unfastened many others. For some reason though, the one up in my wheel housing was more brittle, or more stuck, At any rate when I tried to pry it open it just broke.
Fritz, if yours busted the same way you may still be able to put it back together by pushing the red legs back into the the slots after you plug the connectors together. Otherwise, cut the plug out and manually wire it (which will be PITA since there's not a lot of room up there to work without removing the wheel housing inner). It goes with saying however that you'd need to weather seal the connections pretty good.
