Well, that's the quinky dink in this scenario.
If he sold you a dipstick for a NG900/9-3 with the B204/234 engine, that stick looks the same with a yellow hat and all but is about 1" shorter than the dipstick for the B205/235 engines.
Now after what I understand, Saab has come out with a new dipstick for the 9-3/9-5 with the B205/235 engine which have a easier to read bottom.
The old P/N was 9172305 but is now 55557302 $12.00
The B204/234 dipstick has P/N 9170671 $30.00
