Sludge can be a problem, you just need to find out the service history. If the owner didn't keep one you can call the dealer where it was purchased from and see if they did the changes there. That is what I had to do with mine and it made up my mind whether or not to purchase my 02 9-5 Linear. About the rims...I'm running gunmetal 17" aftermarket rims on mine with 225/45/17 yoko's and it completely fills up the well. There is absolutly no space in mine and it looks really good. When calling the dealer make sure all of the recall history has been taken care of also, and that all of the scheduled services have been taken care of. These cars are all about regular maintainance, if you don't do it, you will have a painful experience, that is assured. Here is a link to a pic of my 9-5.
