Anyone that lives in or around NC has to go in the mountains bordering NC and Tenn and try out the tail of the dragon. It is an 11 mile stretch of road that has 318 banked curves in it. All you see is sports cars and street bikes racing up and down this thing. The local police(if there is such a thing) leave the area alone for the most part. I had a ball up there last time I went. I was using 225/45/17 Sumi's HTR-Z's(160 tread wear rating) that are sticky as hell. One my second run at the bottom of the pass I actually blew apart the right front brake pad(brand new saab replacement..) and melted the center caps off of my front rims. But in doing that run I out ran a regular in a 1994 Honda NSX, and his friend in a late model honda civic that was turbocharged. The road is US 129 at Deals Gap, NC. The website is Tailofthedragon.com It would be really awesome to get a Saab meet up there sometime during 2007. Everyone was really impressed and had their opinions of what a Saab is all about very quickly. Now if I can just scrape up the dough for a Stage III setup :)
