On my 99 9-5 SW Linear, I put National Tire Ovations, P215/55 R16 93H, which are a private brand made by Yokohama in Virginia, if I recall. A nice balance between price, performance and longevity. They are good enough for southern Ontario snow belt service. I don't think they are available in 17 inch size though.
National has a website for local dealers, and there are only a few places in Canada. My local indie tire guy, and his two sons, drive with them on their vehicles - and they can choose anything they want, because they own the store.
I have had lots of MXV4's over the years (95 900S, two sets, 00 9-3, one set, for example), and I never liked the way the performance in snow dropped off a cliff once you hit 80000 km (about 50000 miles). I don't like the Pirelli P6 at all, and look forward to getting rid of them on my 05 SW Arc, when I make the decision about buying out the lease in 2009.
