Hello.

I have alot of 900 experience and a very little 9000. My last new Saab was a 1995 900 turbo.

Due to a lease I can't get out of on my SUV, I'm shopping for a gently used Saab to be a highway driver due to a recent career change.

Today at a very reputable Saab-only dealer I looked at a 1999 9-5 SE with 138k on the clock, which they originally sold, just took back as a trade and have done all of the recommended service including oil changes every 5k. They have not specifically checked for sludge, but wouldn't it have happend by now with that many miles on it?

The car is in excellent shape, the engine compartment is clean, the DI cassette has been replaced, their inspection upon the trade-in revealed a couple things they have already done and they are asking $5k including a second set of tires and wheels turned in by the original owner. Kelly Blue Book suggests $7,800.

Anyone have any thoughts as to whether this is a good deal for a highway cruiser type application? Are there any things to watch out for on the 1999 models?
