you have had one problem you have listed here, a bad radiator. how is it saabs fault the tech doesn't know how to attach or check old hoses? hoses are just a wear and tear item that don't recall talk of the "quality" of a vehicle.
2. Vw? As a long time Vw and Saab owner I can tell you that would be a step down in product and quality for sure. VwOA is at it's lowpoint in customer service and reliabity ratings. The Jetta/Golf line has not faired well in many many years and I believe the newest Passat hasn't either.
If you are bent out of shape about popped hoses a Vw is not going to be an inprovement with their anemic and buzzy engines.
I am curious what a "blown" radiator is too? Was it rusted out?
At $220 for a new radiator that is quite a bit of labor to replace a radiator on ANY vehicle. Sounds like you may have been take advanatage of. I haven't done a raditor on a 9-5 yet but my last one on a 9000 only took 1.5 tops and that is for a first time.
