Re: Am I ripped-off? Impossible to say. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Am I ripped-off????, Ryan ![]() |
The water pump seems very high since I guesstimate that it would be around $500.00 at a Saab dealer and less than that maybe at an independant Saab shop.
But as always, we haven't seen the written estimate and what they include in the price. They might have serpentine belt, complete tensioner and two idler pulleys included and if so, the price is reasonable.
The same goes with the thermostat claim.
You add a tiny piece of information in the first sentence (and check other electrical stuffs).
That completly throws the $350.00 cost out the window if claiming it is for the thermostat alone.
We don't know what electrical stuff you asked them to look at and what time it took them to find the problems and come up with a solution and what the price tag of that repair is and if it is included in the $350.00.
This is the complexity of car repairs and when comparing prices over the internet.
It HAS to be a written estimate and where each charge is specified with parts and labor to fully be able to compare pricing.
Hope everything gets straightened out?
Anders
