It is a little bit of work but a lot less work than if the shaft already have broken.
The stop arm that is suppose to take up the brunt force of the electric motor when it is doing its calibration run (and the motor is doing that now and then)is updated so if you get the new one from Saab (P/N 5334701) and install it instead of what's in there, you should be good to go.
Or you could by the aluminum stop arm from the saabsite which is even stronger that the updated one from Saab.
The procedure to replace that stop arm is just about the same as when repairing the broken shaft but you don't need to go the last step but only hook the new arm on there and slap it together again.
