I just dealt with a NO CRANK situation. I thought it was the starter because I've had identical starter problems like this on my Chevy truck, but it wasn't. It indead was the NSS. It is so simple to test! I wish someone else would have made it that clear to me .....
The NSS is in the engine compartment, on top of the transmission, with the 10 pin connector right in front of the battery (on my 2001). I spent a ton of time figuring out the whole thing with a multimeter, but all you really have to do is unbend a paperclip, and jumper the black and white wires and the Starter safety loop will be bipassed. Once I determined that was the actual problem, I clipped the black and white wires (switch side, of course) and twisted them together, and now she runs fine until I can get me hands on a new switch.
As far as replacing the switch, I could use some advice on installation myself, though it doesn't look too hard at first glance. I've seen prices aound $300, has anyone seen better deals?
