I have read most of the responces. First on the old saab design (pre 2006) there is not a button on the dash that feels like the other. They are all different. I hope you can notice that. The influence of GM is all over the new saabs. The SID is not there any more. On the new 9-3 it also disappeared. What is happening is commonizing. Saab gets the same h/w as Saturn, Chevrolet, Buik, .... and so on. It is a cost reduction that GM is trying to achieve before it goes belly up (Which is going to happen eventually). I am not sure that what they are doing is the best way ahead. On the long run people that used to buy saabs for their different style and look will turn to other european brand names, like Audi, BMW, or Merc.
