TB cleaning my 2 cents Posted by bobc [Email] (#473) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bobc) on Wed, 28 Feb 2007 12:17:28 In Reply to: Re: Engine reving in revrs and while stopped, Ben Fast, Wed, 28 Feb 2007 10:15:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here is what I do to care for the TB
- I use Techron regularly, every 8k or so (every other oil change)
- I clean the TB in place.
- I wrap a portion of a lint free rag around my finger, and spray it with Gumout carb cleaner. using my finger like that I wipe the walls and butterfly as best I can. I keep wiping and using a clean portion of the rag until its clean and shiny.
- I put a drop of 3-in 1 oil on the butterfly pivots.
I wonder if this actually helps the TB last longer ... I don't know.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone feels that removing the TB to clean it is worth while. or if there is a better procedure to clean it.
