I just changed my fuel filter yesterday. An easy 30 min DIY. This was on our '01 2.3 HOT 9.5 SW. When I turned the filter to drain the gas out, it came out very grey in color...clearly dirty. The fuel that leaked out of the gas lines, up and downstream of the filter was typically almost clear gasoline. The car has 58,700 miles now. I detect no difference in how the car runs with the new vs old filter however.
