Hi guys,
I just had my IDM fail recently. It was the front IDM and when it died it scared the crap out of me. I've reported the incident to the NHTSA already and I do hope that they expand the recall to include all SAAB models with faulty IDM's. I'm 21 so it's the first time I've ever had a car fail on me. Scary experience all around. Anyhow, I had the Saab dealership print out the IRIS record of services done since I bought it used at around 98,000 miles. Here's the record:
Recalls:
T7 ECM EMISSION REC
9-5 V6 SEAL IN ENGINE WIRING HARNESS
WHEEL BOLT REPLACEMENT STEEL TO ALLOY
Warranty Repairs/Replacements:
01/05/04 TIMING CHAIN/BELT
12/27/02 INST. HSG. ASSY
07/06/02 GENERATOR ASSY
11/28/01 SEAL, DRAIN PLUG
09/14/01 FEED PUMP + FUEL PUMP
04/23/01 AIR FILTER, CABIN
12/20/00 OIL RETURN PIPE, TURBO
11/13/00 JOINT PIPE, OIL FILTER
10/13/00 FRAME ASSY (CASSETTE)
10/13/00 ECM
06/23/00 INST. HSG. ASSY
I don't want to be stranded with a broken Saab ever again. What repairs/maintenance should I look into?
Thanks guys
BTW, I broke the emergency light blinker switch on the wooden dash panel. I guess I pushed too hard in a fit of nervous rage and the thing popped right through. How exactly do I get through the instrument panel and pull the thing back out?
