I just did an 01 Aero transmission a month ago where some teeth had been sheared off, probably on the final gear somewhere, and knocked a hole through the casing into the clutch area.
Had to wait about 3 weeks before the transmission arrived from Sweden. I guess it is either a lot of them going bad so they can't keep them in stock, or it is almost unheard of that they go bad so therefore, they don't bother to stock many of them. This was the first manual transmission that I have seen bad in a 9-5.
It is possible to abuse the transmission in a way that teeth are knocked off so I can't know the cause of it for sure since I don't know the driving style of each person.
It came to about $3000.00 with new clutch, rear main seal and resurface flywheel.
I never checked on the used transmission but I would suspect it would be around $700-800.00 and I wouldn't suggest installing a used clutch, but to go with a new one.
